Just tried it using butterscotch chips as I am allergic to chocolate. I love trying new recipes, especially during the fall and winter. I was a little nervous at first, since I really didn't know what to expect.

It. Was. AWESOME.

I'll probably cut back on the sugar next time, but it was still amazing. Very rich and creamy.

Side note: seasonal vanilla cool whip tastes great with it.
: )

Thanks so much for the recipe!

I said I'd stop commenting in this post but I just had to answer this!

I've never made a quadruple batch but I've warmed up the leftovers the next day and they taste just as good as the fresh version. You have to try it if you haven't! Your guests will be super impressed. :)

I've been making this every few days! I started off using sugar, but now I use none at all. I use 55% cocoa and it's sweet enough. But if you like dark chocolate, I think it's a good idea to make the hot chocolate, and then add sugar until it's to your liking.

With milk chocolate, it's just insanely sweet (but I think delicious) and it definitely doesn't need sugar. My husband can't even drink the milk chocolate version. I guess the sugar thing just depends on the exact brand and type of chocolate you use.

Thank you so so so much for this recipe! It's just amazing. I feel like I'm spamming this post. I'll stop now. :)
