My mom made these for our 4th of July party. They’re insanely good. So good I was lying in bed around midnight that night wishing I had another one. I’m not sure what else to say here- those are the cold hard facts. Make these. Make them soon.

BBQ Bacon-Wrapped Jalapenos

20 fresh jalapenos, cut in half and seeded
2 blocks of cream cheese, at room temperature
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1 pound bacon, cut into thirds
BBQ sauce
toothpicks

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees. In a large bowl, mix the cream cheese and cheddar cheese. Spread some of the cheese mixture in each jalapeno half. Wrap each piece with a slice of bacon and secure with a toothpick. Brush with BBQ sauce, and place on a baking sheet lined with foil.  Bake for 20-30 minutes, or until bacon is nicely browned.

  1. Mmmm, these look fantastic. I have so much bacon left over from 4th of July…but are these spicy? I have a couple of people who can’t handle spicy stuff. However, if I was left alone with the plate…I’d eat them all by myself, too!!!

Krystal- depending on the peppers, they can be extremely spicy, or not spicy at all. It’s sort of a gamble, but most of the time, you’ll probably get something in the middle- a semi-spicy pepper. In which case, it’s not bad at all!

  2. Oh my…..those look dangerously good.

Do you know my husband thinks jalapeno poppers count as a vegetable? If he saw this he’d say they were a veggie and a meat!

  3. I make a variation of these (sans cheddar and bbq sauce) and we’ll just about make ourselves sick on them. I’ll have to try some this way next time we make a batch 🙂

  5. Yum! Never thought to mix cheddar cheese in with the cream cheese! Now that is something I’ll have to try! I like to mix some honey in with my BBQ sauce and then dip them in that before putting on the grill or in oven!

    Love this blog!

  12. I make these and add dill to the cream cheese. Hear me out, it sounds weird, but they’re deliciously awesome. A little brown sugar in the mix adds something sweet to a spicy delicacy.

  14. These look awesome! My husband and I have been making a variation of this… we brown sausage and mix it in with the cream cheese, stuff it in the jalapeno then wrap the bacon around it. Delish!
